Artist Statement:

I am watching you

Artist Maeco, aka MAriska’s paintings celebarte Mother Earth and Nature. Besides the 10% that is donated to an environmental charity with earths-journey each year, she donates 30 percent of each painting for a project in her home of Tamil Nadu which is donated to homeless aged women. Along with her gracious donation, she also donates Tree and Herbal Gardens; gives to a home for animals and donates time and money for a school for village girls.

Her statement in all her paintings is: “Get in contact with the healing energies of Mother Earth and Nature. If you spontaneously like one of my paintings, it is probably the special healing energy of Mother Earth and Nature you need in your life”. I think that says it all!

Everything that I’ve seen or heard recently, regarding people being in their own business, and having success, all boils down to passion that they have. If you have a passion for something, you are LUCKY if you can make it into a business for yourself. There is no other happiness in the world then doing something you love and having the ability to make a living with that passion. I’ve spent most of my life searching for my passion, and finally found it in the creativity of wonderful artists and crafters. I truly love talent and am passionate about spreading the word of how incredible Eco-Artists and Crafters are, more so than a usual artist or crafter.

This brings me to my point. I found a website that can make your dreams come true. I remember being a small girl wanting so much to be an actress when I grew up… but life gets in the way and those dreams sometimes just stay dreams. I’ve often thought, what if? I wonder if I would have been successful and could I have possibly been Mrs. BrangaTina! (Oh that Brad Pitt!).

If you’ve ever wondered like me, what if… or even if you’ve wanted to try doing something else for a living, but just don’t know how to go about it; or if you’re like me and like a learning vacation rather than sitting on a beach somewhere relaxing – I have an answer for you.

This is an incredible website that offers you the chance to pursue or even just taste another world.  It offers you a one-on-one mentorship with a person who is in the field you’ve always dreamed of, for a few days. It’s a vocation vacation! This gives you the opportunity to see what life is like as a Radio Personality, or a Chef.  We’ve all seen the movie “City Slickers” well now you can find out what it’s really like to own and operator your own Cattle Ranch. One of the coolest and newest vacations that they offer is: Want to be an Archaeologist? WOW, can you imagine that? Spending a weekend with a real Archaeologist and digging right along with them and possibly finding a piece of history that no one has seen in hundreds and hundreds of years?

Here’s one for my artists and crafters… ever wondered if you could take your talents and open up your own Gallery???? You can find out by taking a vacation with someone who did just that. They took their own skills and talents and now run their own successful Gallery. Now don’t get me wrong, these vacations are not cheap… but to someone who has always wondered, WHAT IF… they are worth their weight in gold. You can find out what if, you can change your vocation, you can change your life. Do you know what a Luthier is? Either did I! It’s a guitar maker, and yes, you can experience what life would be like if this was your dream.

Another opportunity this website offers – not only can you go and find out what your true vocation vacation is, but you can also be a mentor as well. Have you ever wanted to teach people about your own talent? I remember meeting a woman at a juried exhibition and began talking to her about her outstanding pottery. She told me that everything she uses, from her kiln to her glazes were all environmentally friendly (yes, I am getting her to show her talents on http://www.earths-journey.com), and she was so excited about the possibility of teaching others how to be more eco-friendly while keeping true to their personal talent. Well this would be a great opportunity for her, she can be a one-on-one mentor to someone who has always dreamed of wheel throwing for the environment.

I just think this is an incredible opportunity for a lot of people. Finding out what your life could be like with a totally different vocation! Finding out what it would be like to be a Sea Captain, or a Milner it gives you a vision of a possible future, or a glimpse of a life completely different from what you know. It could also be a reality check of how good your life is right now, I’m sure each person comes out of this experience with their own realities.

On the front of our cards, it says: A GROWING THOUGHT… with the inside’s blank, and the back of the card has the planting instructions.

We’ve checked around for other’s who sell these cards, and found that normally, each card goes for $3.00, and for a pack of 5, it’s usually $15.00. With that said, we’ve decided to pack our cards in bundles of 5, and sell them for $12.00 for the bundle. Our cards also come with envelopes for mailing.

Well the first place that I fell in love with is called: The Real Milk Paint. Now I know that they look like a furniture and wall cover store, but The Real Milk Paint Company has always focused on protecting our environment, as well as the on the health of their customers. The flagship of their earth friendly products is powdered milk paint. This environmentally friendly paint goes by many names, including green paint and non-toxic paint. There is a gallery section for artists who’d like to use this paint: Art Gallery. The Real Milk Paint Co. is eco-friendly, lead-free, biodegradable, non-toxic wall, furniture, and craft paint.

Another place we’ve found is called: Eco Art Supplies. This company offers Golden Acrylic Paints that are sustainably manufactured, artist’s paints by Golden. Their acrylic paints are made with the highest quality pigments and resin. Golden has been on the forefront of environmental stewardship programs for it’s Columbus, NY facility. Eco Art Supplies also offers bamboo brushes, and Gamblin paints, which are manufactured in a safe, sustainable manner. With a wind-powered, energy efficient facility, they focus on reducing their carbon footprint, while making some of the world’s finest artists’ materials. Dick Blick has environmental art supplies as well, however, please make sure you read about the products prior to purchasing because not everything is green! They do have a wonderful Tree-Free Hemp Sketchpad which is made from 100% recycled materials: 25% hemp and 75% recycled. No virgin wood pulp from trees is used.

Our cards will be in “note card” form, with 5 cards to each set! They are made from 100% post consumer paper, with natural pigments, and will be filled with wild flower seeds. There is no throwing the cards away… you plant the entire card and flowers will grow!

This is very exciting for us, as this will be our own line of cards from earths-journey! Check back soon to be one of the first to buy your cards from earths-journey!

Another talented artisan that shows his exhibit is Robdesign. Rob lives in the Philippines and has dedicated his life to finding native woods, salvaging them and creating the most beautiful jewelry that is absolutely affordable to everyone! This piece called “Racing Eye” is only $20.00. Rob uses only a wax for the finish which keeps in line with our environmental cause.

Artist Jeff Grassie has joined earths-journey with his wonderful talent for taking salvaged wood and creating such pieces as this one called “Medicine Man“. He also uses found metal parts to enhance his unique work, such as a pitchfork for the hair and marbles for the eyes. This particular piece is 17″Hx11″Wx4″D and hangs on the wall, and at $350.00 it’s an amazing piece of art that will look great in anyone’s collection!

Another new eco-artist we are honored to have with us “Reformed”. These one of a kind and extremely unique works are made from reformed papers, such as brown from recycled grocery bags, blue from recycled photo back drop paper, and the dark gray from recycled photo drop paper and enhanced by silver sage twigs.
