FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Earth’s Journey has finally launched and is now on its own journey!
Earths Journey, the new online venue for environmentally-friendly artists and crafters is officially open for business. The new website allows eco-artists and crafters to showcase their eco-friendly artwork. Only artwork that is comprised of recycled, upcycled, and/or environmentally friendly materials are allowed to be sold on the website.
President of Earth’s Journey, Tina Santillo wants buyers to “Sit back, relax, and be inspired by green!” when looking on the website located at www.earths-journey.com. She also ensures that all products must be environmentally friendly before the artist can show an exhibit of their eco-art. It is Earths-Journey’s goal to be able to provide unique eco-artwork to the masses, and as stated in their first press release,
We’re very confident that Earth’s Journey will do for eco-art, what ebay has done for auctions. It is our goal to be synonymous with eco-art.
Tina is taking a hands on approach with this venture, and excellent communication, trust and loyalty is something she strives for with both her artist’s and client’s. With that in mind, she has written a personal note for all to see on the Earth Journey website, under “About Us”, and has also established a blog that she encourages you to visit. The blog is located at http://earths-journey.blogspot.com. It is her way of staying in touch with anyone else that is interested in the preserving the natural journey of earth.
The site has already attracted some esteemed eco friendly artists, even before the site has been officially launched. You will be able to find an incredible display of talent from eco-artists across the country, and soon to be world. You are invited to participate in this ground breaking event, either by becoming an eco-artist or by being inspired to buy a piece and share in our environmental responsibilities.
Please visit www.earths-journey.com for more information, or to request an interview with Tina Santillo, please contact her email: earthsjourneyts@yahoo.com

As most of you already know, talent and artistic vision inspire me. As stated on my website, eco-art got into my mind, body and soul. Like most of you, when I heard of recycling to save the earth, I naturally assumed I needed to separate my plastics, newspapers and glass. I was helping. That was all I needed to do. Then one day, I was searching around for something fun, some art, and I came across this abstract piece. It was gorgeous – it looked like a naturally formed wave of icy white water bursting into the air. When I looked closer at it, I saw that it was made from recycled plastic caps. I was in shock. What kind of imagination and talent does that take to look at a plastic cap and see more to it then what it actually is? How can someone be so ingenious that they can take something that we normally throw away and create such a piece of beauty with it? This is the thought process that I could not stop pondering and it took over my mind, body and soul and soon enough became my muse.
I began Earth’s Journey for this reason. I wanted to show the world that there was more to saving the earth than just recycling. There is beauty in things we can’t even imagine, and so many ways to help our planet flourish. There are products out there that we all could use to completely decorate, furnish and run a home… all environmentally safe. You can buy organic bedding, non-toxic cleaning detergents, solar power, or make a change in a small way by using energy-efficient light bulbs. But the best part of recycling and being eco-friendly is the beauty that you’ll find here, with all of our different artisans. As you can see I’m very passionate about this type of artistic creativity, and I hope you will be too.

As I am not an artist myself, and can only appreciate the talent the world has to offer, I’d like to get some artistic suggestions on what to do with my empty Coffee Containers. I already know how to recycle, but I’m looking for a little creativity in how to recycle some things I use on a daily basis. This container, for example (shown here) seems to be begging to be turned into something upcycled, and I stare at it each day and hold it in different positions thinking that SOMETHING will come to me, but it doesn’t.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to turn this simple container into something artistically amazing??? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Besides being a website dedicated to saving the planet through artistic creativity, Earth’s Journey will now share part of their profits to an environmental charity each year.
Earth’s Journey, an online gallery for the Eco-Artist and Crafter, has just announced that 10% of their profits will be donated to an environmental charity each year.
“When an eco-artist joins Earth’s Journey, they are already being environmentally responsible by using earth friendly materials. When an eco-shopper buys something on our site, they can be proud to know that they have become a part of the millions of people that are concerned about saving our planet,” states Tina Santillo, owner of Earth’s Journey. “This is just another way we will honor our earth by donating to a charity that we know dedicates most of their funds to the cause.”
Earth’s Journey has only been online 2 months, however the results of their success is based on how people are dedicated to saving the planet. Eco-Artists and Eco-Shoppers alike are passionate about this reality, and more and more people are looking at buying “recycled beauty” especially in this time of economic crisis.

I’d like to invite you all to come to the Earth’s Journey “Forums” pages and start posting your advertisements for collecting junk and recycled materials to create your art! I know most of you have your own sources, and like myself, take the plastic bags from the store to see what creative thing I can do with them. But what if you had an opportunity to ask people in your neighborhood to “drop off” their bags, and metals, and plastics so you can have more items to work with?
I thought this would be interesting, since we all work with recycled materials, and sometimes feel the need to purchase items just so we have the materials we need for our next project. Under the forums page, you can start by adding the State you live in, then add the area, and see if there are other people interested in collecting these resources with you. I don’t mean you need to have a big container in front of your home for people to drop off their garbage to you – I mean, you can say: email me at this address if you have any of these materials and are close by.
I believe this might help the world come to a better understanding of how we make recycled art. When people start to see the beauty that comes from junk, it might help change some minds on how to help with their own recycling!
Any problems, questions, ideas, advice, please email me at: earthsjourneyts@yahoo.com. And as always, if you want to become an Eco-Artist and show your own exhibit on Earth’s Journey, all you need to do is have a paypal account. Registration, designing your exhibit, adding your bio is all free! You have nothing to lose. Upon sale of one of your pieces, our fees are: 70% to the artist, 20% to Earth’s Journey, and 10% is donated each year to an environmental charity in your name!
Help us help others!

Economic crisis? Global Warming? Recycling?
This is not a trend, it’s a reality. Society’s natural evolution brings us to this day where we all have to participate in saving our planet and ourselves. This is no longer a plea to be environmentally aware, or a suggestion to start at home with recycling… this is a genuine must in everyone’s lives.
Earth’s Journey was created because for the first time – I saw beauty in, for lack of a better term, garbage! I remember looking at junk art years ago, and thinking, wow, this really is junk -art. How times and creativity have grown from a pile of what looked like parts of a car on top of each other and on a stick, to the beauty that Eco-Artists are creating today. Where do you think our society will go from here? Our society will HAVE to embrace these words and make them a part of their every day lives. We must look at different venues in our lives to participate in any way we can – from earth-friendly products for house use, to not using chemicals in daily life, and of course, for buying holiday gifts for our loved ones. My gifts this year are “starter kits” for my family. An organic shopping bag, energy saving light bulbs, green cleaning products, etc.
My point is this. Beginning now and in the years to come, the necessity to find venues where people can purchase daily items, gifts, food and clothes where there is no thought process on whether the item is good for the environment or not, will not exist. Everyone is either there already, or heading that way now, and even yes… the people who feel it is a trend are getting on board because it’s a trend, but who cares. There here!

Well, this year, I did all my shopping online and I was smart enough NOT to go to the stores on Black Friday! I wanted to share some great and interesting shopping websites with you. I have always fancied myself a wonderful gift shopper, in terms of thinking of the person receiving the gifts and really looking into what they would like as opposed to what they need. After all, gifts should be a thought process, not just a purchase.
As in the case of my 18 year old nephew Jason. Jason is a great student, good hearted person, and is fortunate enough to have everything he needs in life. His parents are good to him, he works hard at his studies and to be perfectly open, he deserves the good life. So what do you get a kid that has everything? Well, I came across this website a few years ago, and thought this was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. http://www.whoopassenterprises.com actually makes a Bobble head from the pictures of the person you send them! My nephew Jason got, well, ummmm, himself! I just sent in a picture of the front of his face, and the side, and they created a Jason Bobble head! Okay, how cool is that!
Now, I just love this idea! Have you ever thought, or do you know someone that is in a dead-end job and has dreams of doing something else, but doesn’t know what that is, or feels they’re too old to go back to school to become their dream? Then check out this absolutely wonderful website called: http://www.vocationvacations.com. This website allows you to take a short vacation, with a one-on-one mentor, doing the job of your dreams! Ever wanted to be a real cowboy and rope and ride? Do you have dreams of being a Broadway Producer or owning your own doggy day-care? How about a chocolatier? This website offers you a chance of a lifetime! Take your next vacation now and find out if your dream job could possibly be your reality!
I happen to have a male friend that is… well, let’s just call him a computer geek! He would rather figure out the binary code on a clock then go to lunch… do you know the kind? You really can’t buy gifts for this type of person because you don’t understand half the things they say! Well, http://www.computergear.com is the epitome of “I have no idea what this guy’s talking about so let me get him something geeky” gift shops! From t-shirts to desktop toys, from robots to Star Wars and finally from math jokes to fun computer cuff links! Love this store!
And as always, not to toot our own horn, but yes, you should always shop at http://www.earths-journey.com for very cool, recycled and environmentally friendly gifts!!! We have purses made from seat belts, recycled silver jewelry, mosaic’s and rugs made from old jeans! There is always something for everyone… every price range and more and more artists are signing on with Earth’s Journey each day!
Remember, when buying a gift, think about the person getting the gift… don’t get something they NEED, they can get that on their own. Get them something that is frivolous and all about them. If it’s not a gift from your heart, then it’s just money thrown away.

Artist Statement:

I am watching you
As the daughter of a Russian-Jewish geologist, surrounded with beautiful minerals, semi-precious stones and natural relics, I developed from my childhood an ability to hear inner voices of objectsaround me. When I arrived in the US and met a group of non-conformist artists from the former Soviet Union I was inspired to use this ability in my art.For me each object has a voice, whether it’s the rasp of a rusted metal mechanism, the nostalgic whisper of a silk tissue or the rural chatter of a wooden spoon. By putting all these materials together I orchestrate the music of found objects and thus find my own uniquevoice.Using the interaction of spiritual meditation and found objects I encourage images to appear from my subconscious. In the beginning I was not using any coloring substances, later I started taking a more fluid approach to my art, including paint in it and just as often abandoning collage altogether to conjure real and imagined spacesentirely from pigments.I acknowledge, however, that in order to attract attention of younger generations, accustomed to computers, art must be interactive. Therefore, I envision creating large scale and three-dimensionalpanoramic paintings-collages and installations into which participants can “enter” and experience the wonder of art and nature. On the walls will be buttons to push in order to hear my poetry and accompanying music.
***********************************************************
Artist
Maeco, aka MAriska’s paintings celebarte Mother Earth and Nature. Besides the 10% that is donated to an environmental charity with earths-journey each year, she donates 30 percent of each painting for a project in her home of Tamil Nadu which is donated to homeless aged women. Along with her gracious donation, she also donates Tree and Herbal Gardens; gives to a home for animals and donates time and money for a school for village girls.

Her statement in all her paintings is: “Get in contact with the healing energies of Mother Earth and Nature. If you spontaneously like one of my paintings, it is probably the special healing energy of Mother Earth and Nature you need in your life”. I think that says it all!

I know this is not my usual blog about how we can help save the world by recycling… however I really wanted to get the word out about living out your dream.
Everything that I’ve seen or heard recently, regarding people being in their own business, and having success, all boils down to passion that they have. If you have a passion for something, you are LUCKY if you can make it into a business for yourself. There is no other happiness in the world then doing something you love and having the ability to make a living with that passion. I’ve spent most of my life searching for my passion, and finally found it in the creativity of wonderful artists and crafters. I truly love talent and am passionate about spreading the word of how incredible Eco-Artists and Crafters are, more so than a usual artist or crafter.
This brings me to my point. I found a website that can make your dreams come true. I remember being a small girl wanting so much to be an actress when I grew up… but life gets in the way and those dreams sometimes just stay dreams. I’ve often thought, what if? I wonder if I would have been successful and could I have possibly been Mrs. BrangaTina! (Oh that Brad Pitt!).
If you’ve ever wondered like me, what if… or even if you’ve wanted to try doing something else for a living, but just don’t know how to go about it; or if you’re like me and like a learning vacation rather than sitting on a beach somewhere relaxing – I have an answer for you.
http://www.vocationvacations.com/
This is an incredible website that offers you the chance to pursue or even just taste another world. It offers you a one-on-one mentorship with a person who is in the field you’ve always dreamed of, for a few days. It’s a vocation vacation! This gives you the opportunity to see what life is like as a Radio Personality, or a Chef. We’ve all seen the movie “City Slickers” well now you can find out what it’s really like to own and operator your own Cattle Ranch. One of the coolest and newest vacations that they offer is: Want to be an Archaeologist? WOW, can you imagine that? Spending a weekend with a real Archaeologist and digging right along with them and possibly finding a piece of history that no one has seen in hundreds and hundreds of years?
Here’s one for my artists and crafters… ever wondered if you could take your talents and open up your own Gallery???? You can find out by taking a vacation with someone who did just that. They took their own skills and talents and now run their own successful Gallery. Now don’t get me wrong, these vacations are not cheap… but to someone who has always wondered, WHAT IF… they are worth their weight in gold. You can find out what if, you can change your vocation, you can change your life. Do you know what a Luthier is? Either did I! It’s a guitar maker, and yes, you can experience what life would be like if this was your dream.
Another opportunity this website offers – not only can you go and find out what your true vocation vacation is, but you can also be a mentor as well. Have you ever wanted to teach people about your own talent? I remember meeting a woman at a juried exhibition and began talking to her about her outstanding pottery. She told me that everything she uses, from her kiln to her glazes were all environmentally friendly (yes, I am getting her to show her talents on http://www.earths-journey.com), and she was so excited about the possibility of teaching others how to be more eco-friendly while keeping true to their personal talent. Well this would be a great opportunity for her, she can be a one-on-one mentor to someone who has always dreamed of wheel throwing for the environment.
I just think this is an incredible opportunity for a lot of people. Finding out what your life could be like with a totally different vocation! Finding out what it would be like to be a Sea Captain, or a Milner it gives you a vision of a possible future, or a glimpse of a life completely different from what you know. It could also be a reality check of how good your life is right now, I’m sure each person comes out of this experience with their own realities.
Please let me know if anyone finds out their true calling from one of these vacations, I’d love to hear all about it!

As most of you already know, earths-journey.com received such wonderful response from our “Wildflower Seeded Holiday Cards” that we now have our own Notecards for purchase!

On the front of our cards, it says: A GROWING THOUGHT… with the inside’s blank, and the back of the card has the planting instructions.
We’ve checked around for other’s who sell these cards, and found that normally, each card goes for $3.00, and for a pack of 5, it’s usually $15.00. With that said, we’ve decided to pack our cards in bundles of 5, and sell them for $12.00 for the bundle. Our cards also come with envelopes for mailing.
If you’d like to purchase earths-journey seeded cards, check out our website today!

Email after email after email… where can I buy eco-friendly art supplies? Are there eco-friendly art supplies? Where can I buy green art supplies? So finally instead of answering every individual email, I thought, why not blog about these wonderful companies???
Well the first place that I fell in love with is called: The Real Milk Paint. Now I know that they look like a furniture and wall cover store, but The Real Milk Paint Company has always focused on protecting our environment, as well as the on the health of their customers. The flagship of their earth friendly products is powdered milk paint. This environmentally friendly paint goes by many names, including green paint and non-toxic paint. There is a gallery section for artists who’d like to use this paint: Art Gallery. The Real Milk Paint Co. is eco-friendly, lead-free, biodegradable, non-toxic wall, furniture, and craft paint.
Another place we’ve found is called: Eco Art Supplies. This company offers Golden Acrylic Paints that are sustainably manufactured, artist’s paints by Golden. Their acrylic paints are made with the highest quality pigments and resin. Golden has been on the forefront of environmental stewardship programs for it’s Columbus, NY facility. Eco Art Supplies also offers bamboo brushes, and Gamblin paints, which are manufactured in a safe, sustainable manner. With a wind-powered, energy efficient facility, they focus on reducing their carbon footprint, while making some of the world’s finest artists’ materials. Gamblin makes safety a priority, for the artist and the environment, at the same time maintaining the quality of the old Masters with color range of the modern artist’s palette.
There are also art supply houses with kids in mind. Check out Stubby Pencil for information on eco-friendly products for your creative child! With their ecologic pencils, and their soy crayons, your child’s imagination can soar and as a parent, you know that there are no harmful chemicals that can affect their creativity! The Stubby Pencil also offers non-toxic and earth friendly toys and gifts for your child.
Dick Blick has environmental art supplies as well, however, please make sure you read about the products prior to purchasing because not everything is green! They do have a wonderful Tree-Free Hemp Sketchpad which is made from 100% recycled materials: 25% hemp and 75% recycled. No virgin wood pulp from trees is used.
There is something out there for everyone who wants to be more environmentally aware! Start your creative journey now and become more green with these wonderful art supplies!

As part of our ongoing plight to save our environment, www.earths-journey.com is proud to announce that we have just sent off the first of many environmental donation’s to www.earthshare.org.
EarthShare is committed to making environmental support as easy as possible by giving working people the ability to donate through workplace payroll contribution campaigns. Founded by its member charities in 1988, EarthShare is an opportunity for environmentally-conscious employees and workplaces to support hundreds of environmental groups through a charitable giving drive.
Each artist on earths-journey.com registers to sell their art on our site with a few simple rules. You must use recycled, found, upcycled and/or environmentally friendly materials to create your work, and you must participate in donating 10% of your profit to an environmental charity each year.
Most of the artists on earths-journey were more excited that they would be donating 10% of their profits to an environmental charity then they were to get a sale. I feel very lucky and blessed to be involved with such wonderful people and am honored to have them in my life.

WE ARE LOOKING GREAT, and giving you more choices for your eco-shopping every day! We now have about 25 different artists and crafters using all types of recycled, upcycled and found materials to create the most amazing items EVER! Check out some of our newest talent:
For only $30.00, CentralCaliGrrrl offers you this remarkable “Brown Paper Bag Bowl“, made of, you guessed it, brown paper bags! And if you’re looking for a little color in this creatively-made bowl, she also offers one made from recycled magazine pages for only $40.00, and to quote her motto, “Life Isn’t About Finding Yourself, It’s About Creating Yourself” and she shows us all what just a little imagination can do!
Another
talented artisan that shows his exhibit is Robdesign. Rob lives in the Philippines and has dedicated his life to finding native woods, salvaging them and creating the most beautiful jewelry that is absolutely affordable to everyone! This piece called “Racing Eye” is only $20.00. Rob uses only a wax for the finish which keeps in line with our environmental cause.
Artist Jeff Grassie has joined earths-journey with his wonderful talent for taking salvaged wood and creating such pieces as this one called “Medicine Man“. He also uses found metal parts to enhance his unique work, such as a
pitchfork for the hair and marbles for the eyes. This particular piece is 17″Hx11″Wx4″D and hangs on the wall, and at $350.00 it’s an amazing piece of art that will look great in anyone’s collection!
Another new eco-artist we are honored to have with us “Reformed”. These one of a kind and extremely unique works are made from
reformed papers, such as brown from recycled grocery bags, blue from recycled photo back drop paper, and the dark gray from recycled photo drop paper and enhanced by silver sage twigs. This beautiful sculpture called, “Consolidation” measures 11″ H X 12″ D and is a steal at only $375.00.
